Graduation Party

My niece and nephew graduated this weekend. Crazy to think they were little babies at my own high school graduation (just dated myself, didn’t I?)? Like any auntie, I’m shocked they are old enough to be graduating but so proud of both of them. They are some pretty amazing kids adults. :)

I flew back home with my son to enjoy the festivities. My sisters did a great job organizing the party and food and I simply helped with some little touches.  It was a great day with amazingly lucky weather (until my niece’s ceremony, during which was a crazy thunderstorm). I really felt blessed to be a part of the weekend’s festivities.

My sister and niece came up with the idea to give bookmarks as favors at the open house. They were inspired by this PhD party décor from Kojo Designs. In our book-devouring family, this was a perfect idea! But we wanted the bookmarks to have a little more personality, so we decided to make some faux photostrips. I’m a digital scrapbooker, so it was easy for me to find some materials to work with!

Of course if you don’t have those supplies, print wallet size photos and line them up on a sheet of cardstock, or use tips from this post to make new photobooth strips

I set up my file to print two on a regular 4x6 photo then had them printed at a local photo printer. Then we cut them, attached to each side of a 2”x6” piece of cardstock (so the bookmarks are doublesided), punched a hole in the top and looped some jute through. A perfect personalized bookmark.

We hung the bookmarks with clothespins from ribbons strung along a papered section of wall. Add some letters cut from my Cricut, a few cute tissue flowers and the favor display was set.

This was set up in the garage with some tables for folks to eat out of the elements (although we lucked out and avoided rain!). We suspended tissue poms in school colors from the ceiling to set the festive mood.IMG_0975
Inside my sister set up a guestbook/gift table with the cakes and some other goodies.

That photo in the frame is a print I made using a preschool graduation photo of the two of them. We had it printed in 8x10 and put it in a simple frame on the table. Look how cute they are!

These were on the table with the signature mats my sister picked up for each of them to serve as guestbooks. Love the class of 2011 word art on them!

What are those cute little things on the platter, you ask? Well, they are my version of Bakerella’s cute Candy Cup Caps!!

I totally cheated since we were short on time but I still think they are cute. They are made of a mini Reese’s PB cup attached to a caramel Ghiradelli square with a little chocolate frosting. Then I used Sour Patch Straws (because they were already in strips), simply cut them in thirds and attached with a little frosting. Super easy, and surprisingly delicious even with the sour tassels!

We had a blast celebrating their big day!! Do you have any graduations to celebrate this year?

Yes, this is the best option. Thank you for sharing this blog. Tomorrow I want to attend my friend’s Party favours for graduation and want to give her the handcrafted gift. Now I think that graduation cap will be the best option. Thank you!

Set-up play ground: after finishing all these steps your own playground flooring is performed and the final step is actually arranging the actual swings or even accessories onto it, and let your children play onto it and appreciate. playground flooring
