Sweet Tea Lemon Drop Martini

We happened upon some sweet tea vodka by chance. As in stumbled upon it in G’s liquor cabinet at the cabin. Strange, I know. Apparently it was a gift from someone, so we jumped at the chance to experiment.
I had never heard of sweet tea vodka, but am familiar with the sweet tea loved by many, so was intrigued. It’s a perfect summer refreshment with a little added kick! This one is definitely worthy of summer entertaining!

The premise is pretty basic actually.  In fact I hesitate to call this a recipe, more of our way of a variation to make an already lovely cocktail even more incredible!
We started with our favorite Lemon Drop Martini, but used the sweet tea vodka in replacement of normal vodka. Of course we couldn’t leave it at that.  We rimmed our glass with yellow sugar, dropped some candied lemon in the glass to add a special finish, and garnished with a lemon slice.

Here's how to make your own:

Sweet Tea Lemon Drop Martini
Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 ounce(s) Sweet Tea Vodka
  • 1/4 ounce(s) triple sec
  • 3/4 ounces lemon juice
  • Colored sugar in yellow
  • Candied lemons for garnish
Directions:
1. Cut a slice of lemon and rub the fruit across the rim of your glass to moisten it so the sugar will stick.
2. Dip the rim of the glass in colored sugar to coat. We picked yellow sugar.
3. Combine the vodka, triple sec and the lemon juice in a shaker with ice.  Shake well.
5. Strain drink into glass.  Garnish with candied lemons.

Refreshing and sweet - PERFECT for a summer gathering. Or just a relaxing end to a hot stressful day.

Proceed with slight caution (or a designated driver) - this is is one of those deceptive cocktails that can be a tad too easy to consume quickly, much like a good iced tea.

Enjoy!
