I started with three 8” foam wreath forms and wrapped them in yarn in three different colors – red, lime green and mustard yellow. Then with a strip of satin ribbon, I pinned them into one long line and made my loop for the top. I knew I’d be indecisive about the order until I saw it on my door, so to keep things flexible, I just pinned it with sewing pins. It worked so well I left it!
Then I set about my monogram decorations. I’d already purchased some adorable mini vintage flashcards so I knew I’d work those in. With my assortment of chipboard letters, I selected a variety and painted and/or mod podged scrapbook papers that coordinated with the rest of the shower décor. I wasn’t sure that my sister in law would want the wreath, so to keep things flexible in case I wanted to switch up the monogram after the shower, I used those handy sewing pins to place 3 of each initial on the wreaths.
Here’s how it looked on our door!
Now that I know the wreath is to go on the little man’s nursery door, I’ll adhere the letters more permanently. But I like the idea of flexibility for wreaths to make it easier to freshen them up from year to year. In fact, stay tuned –more on that later.
Hope you enjoy the wreath! If you don’t want to use initials, any series of numbers or letters would make for a really cute back to school wreath too!
Coming up next week, details on the food, décor, favors and more! Have a great weekend!!
