Easy Peasy Valentine’s Garland

Seriously, it can’t get much easier than this.  I’m not a big fan of decorating for heart day, but somehow having a little guy in the house makes me want to celebrate every holiday for him!  So I threw together some last minute décor to give our house a little festive touch.  This is so easy I’m almost embarrassed to give you instructions!

Materials – White Pom Poms, Sheet of Red Felt and Bakers Twine
I haven’t been bitten by the pom pom making bug yet like G (although after getting my totally awesome wreath I’m thinking of buying that cool tool!).  So mine came from a package from the local craft store.  I have varying sizes here for interest – and to disguise any imperfections in my heart cutting!

All I did was cut some hearts free-hand (although using the folded technique to get them symmetrical) from the sheet of red felt.  I purposely cut some larger and some smaller.  Then with some red and white bakers twine (LOVE that stuff!) and a thick needle, I strung the felt hearts and white poms alternately.  I like that some of the hearts are upside down and the sizes of the hearts and poms vary.  It’s a fun little garland to add a little Valentine’s touch to our mantel.  (Mantle?  Weird, did you know it could be spelled both ways???)

Love the idea of baker's twine, and I am so laughing right now at mantel/mantle. I consider myself to be a pretty decent speller, and that word ALWAYS throws me, so I'm loving that it gets someone else too. :-) Thanks for linking it up.
