Summer Entertaining: Pool Parties

Remember summers as a kid at the pool? Splashing friends, leaping fearlessly into the water, not caring what you look like in a swimsuit... Oh, I digress.

Well, a pool party is a perfect opportunity to live those days of old. I can’t help you in the swimsuit department, but I can help you with ideas for a smashing pool party!

1. Put this gorgeous paper parasol wreath from Family Chic on your door and everyone will know you are having a summer party!

2. This watermelon shark would be a fun addition to your party décor. Find out how to carve it from the National Watermelon Promotion Board.

3. This Fishbowl Gelatin recipe from Martha would be fun too!

4. This Beach Ball Fruit Pizza on a large sugar cookie by Hungry Happenings is brilliant!

5. Make this cute ice cream pool party cake with instructions from Family Fun!

6. This Summer Sand Cake from I am Momma Hear Me Roar uses crushed cookies for the sandy top. Love the sandbucket to serve it in!

7. Serve a fun summer beach snack mix like this one from The Party Wagon.

8. Make sure to have sunscreen on hand. And why not make the sunscreen part of the party décor in a beautiful bowl like this display from Martha?

9. Have beach towels available for your guests (or ready as favors!). Wrap them in cute ribbons for a cute display. Or if you are really ambitious, make towel totes as gifts like these from Pleated Poppy!

10. Make some easy favors like these cute CD sleeves from Beth at it is what it is!

11. These mini beach balls from Martha’s Craft Dept were used as invitations, but we also like the idea of using them as favors or thank yous with a note written in marker that can be read when inflated!

12. Or sew some fun fish on small towels and fill their mouths with treats like this favor from Martha!

If you don’t have a pool in your backyard, you can still have a pool party! Use kiddie pools for activities – set up a fishing station for the little ones, or fill one with ice and bottled drinks for a fun beverage station!

Need some fun activities to keep the kids engaged? Here is a great list of pool party games from Disney Family Go! Or how about these fun splash ideas:

13. Make these super cute Summer Sponge Bombs with Whipperberry! Love the clever use of materials to make them adorable!! The kiddos will have a blast throwing these around!

14. Create a water park adventure in your own backyard with these fun ideas from How Does She?

Whether you have a pool in your backyard or not, a pool party theme is perfect for your summer entertaining! Hope you are inspired by some of these fun ideas to throw your own!
